CIMEA (Centro di Informazione sulla Mobilità e le Equivalenze Accademiche) is Italy’s official center for academic credential evaluation. It reviews and verifies academic qualifications from around the world, providing information on various foreign education systems. CIMEA, appointed by Italy’s Ministry of Education, helps people get their academic credentials recognized in Italy, supporting both students and professionals.
What are the Certificate of Comparability and Certificate of Verification?
CIMEA’s Credential Information Service (CIS) issues two types of certificates:
- Certificate of Comparability– This certificate aligns your academic qualifications with the European higher education standards (Bologna Process) and is useful for continuing studies or enrolling in a university.
- Certificate of Verification– This confirms that your degree is real, having been verified directly with the institution that awarded it, including any official stamps or legalizations. This certificate is typically for employment purposes.
How to Get a CIMEA Certificate
To obtain a certificate, follow these steps:
- Create an Account– Register on CIMEA’s MyDiplome portal. If your university has a partnership with CIMEA, you may get faster service at a lower rate through their link.
- Upload Documents – Prepare and upload the required documents in English or Italian. You may also need a signed consent form, found in the MyDiplome portal, to allow CIMEA to process your data.
- Pay the Fee – After uploading, pay the service fee. CIMEA may ask for sealed copies from your university, depending on their requirements.
Once CIMEA processes everything, your certificates will appear in your MyDiplome wallet. You can contact CIMEA directly through the portal if you have questions— they’re known to be responsive and helpful.
